Even though the process worked after 2 previous pregnancies (you can read my previous testimonials - links the bottom) and no matter how many times I saw clients succeed, the phrases still haunted me: “It gets harder with each pregnancy” or “after my first 2 my body went back to normal; but that third one got me!” This third time around I had my work cut out for me. I gained 50 (and it wasn’t because my baby was big; he weighed only 1.5 more than the previous child). I gave myself two and a half weeks post partum before cleaning up my nutrition and getting on plan. I took an additional 2 weeks to totally detox from my sugar intake (I think for an entire week I thought about brownies LITERALLY after every meal). Once I got into my routine, it was pretty much business as usual. But this time around, I was focused on my family. I wanted to make sure I was creating good enduring food habits. My focus was more on them. And on life…and balance. I believe I had to “think less” about the process because it is so ingrained (and appreciated) in my daily routine. Though I did not follow any kind of specific plan during pregnancy (and had too many sweets), the resistance training that I maintained throughout proved once again very helpful. I can’t stress enough to women how beneficial and not scary weight training/resistance training can be. I am now 5 months since having my third son, and I feel so lucky. I also feel fortunate to work for a company that has helped change my life and given me the control over food/exercise that I don’t think I ever would have developed on my own.
